Getting There from Pune

The travel time from Pune to Lakshadweep is more than a day. Agatti is located in the Arabian Sea, approximately 880 km in a straight line from Pune and is not connected by road or rail. There are three ways to fly and one way to sail.

Pune to Lakshadweep Flight

There are no direct flights from Pune to Agatti. To start your Lakshadweep package tour from Pune, you buy one ticket with a single change of plane. These flights usually depart from Pune after midnight and land on Agatti late in the morning, meaning that you will be spending the night at the stop. There is also a morning flight from Pune which arrives in the early afternoon in Agatti, taking about 6 hours.

Flights depart from Agatti around midday and arrive at Pune late in the evening or after midnight on the way back.

Start from Mumbai Instead

Alternatively, one can take a bus or drive to Mumbai and then fly from here. The flight from Mumbai arrives at Agatti early in the morning with a stopover in Kochi before noon.

This will prevent an overnight stay at the stop. See our Lakshadweep package tour from Mumbai for that route in detail.

Or Start from Goa

Fly91 flies from Goa's Mopa Airport (Manohar International, code GOX) to Agatti every day on its current schedule. The flight departs in the morning so arrive in Goa ahead of time, either by road or air, and stay close to the airport.

There are two airports in Goa; hence, make sure that your plan is to land at Mopa Airport, not Dabolim.

Three Things to Know About Agatti Flights

  • Only small planes: the runway on Agatti is short so only propeller planes land there.
  • Less baggage: these planes allow less luggage than a normal flight. Prior to packing, verify the limit on your ticket.
  • Few flights per day: in most cases, you will have to wait a day, not an hour, for a cancelled flight. Keep the day after your return free.

By Sea

There is no ship from Pune or Mumbai. There are government ships for passengers from Kochi, Beypore and Mangalore. If coming from Pune, you take the long train journey to Kochi or Mangalore, followed by a ship journey that takes 14 to 20 hours and halts during monsoons. It's only for a long trip.

Cordelia Cruises does sail to Lakshadweep from Mumbai. You sleep on the ship and stop at an island for part of a day. Our Cordelia cruise packages are also available.

For a 5-day trip, flying with one change from Pune or Mumbai is how to reach Lakshadweep from Pune in the least time.

Lakshadweep Package Tour from Pune - Day by Day Itinerary

Below is the day-by-day itinerary of our Lakshadweep package tour from Pune. This travel is a deliberately slow journey as you are coming for the sea.

Our team meets you at Agatti Airport with a welcome drink and takes you to your resort for lunch. If you arrive late in the morning, then you can take a late afternoon stroll: the museum, the eastern and western jetties, the lagoon beach, the fish hatchery and Antham beach.

  • Overnight: Agatti
  • Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy the morning in the lagoon. Kayaking and snorkelling are both free. There is an extra charge for scuba diving and banana boating. In the late afternoon, a glass bottom boat takes you to Kalpitti, a small island where no one lives, for the coral and the sunset.

  • Overnight: Agatti
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Nothing is planned. After an overnight flight, this is your day to rest. Swim, read or ride around the island on a two-wheeler (we provide bikes if you want one). A cultural show, campfire or candle light dinner can be arranged upon request. Please ask us if there is any charge for this service.

  • Overnight: Agatti
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Your group will go out on a private boat to see dolphins and will then anchor at the reef and snorkel from the boat. Dolphins are wild and a sighting is never guaranteed, but it still runs either way. Lunch will be served at the resort and the rest of the day is free.

  • Overnight: Agatti
  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, check out and we drop you at Agatti Airport for your flight back towards Pune.

Permit and ID

Everyone Needs a Permit

All visitors to Lakshadweep require an entry permit, even Indians. We will get your permit done as part of your Lakshadweep package tour from Pune.

It Got Easier in May 2026

You no longer need a local sponsor on the islands or a police clearance certificate. The Lakshadweep police will check it out after your application. Most websites have the old procedure listed.

Your Permit Names Your Island

The permit will list the islands that you are permitted to visit. You cannot add another island after that. This package is for Agatti island along with the boat trip to Kalpitti.

What to Send Us

Send us a copy of each passenger's government photo ID card, such as Aadhaar card or passport, and a passport size photograph. Send these in advance since the permit takes time.

Foreign Visitors

Foreign nationals can visit selected islands only and the process takes longer. Please mention your nationality right at the beginning of your booking.

When to Go

The Season

Visit the islands from October to mid-May. The period between December and March sees calm waters and clearer seas. From mid-May to September, monsoons bring rough seas and water sports close.

Same Monsoon as Pune

The monsoon season pattern is similar to that of Pune, therefore, it does not work as a rainy-season escape. Ganeshotsav falls in the rains, so it is not a good time to go.

Diwali and the May Holidays

Diwali falls during October or November when there are no restrictions on travel as far as weather is concerned. This period can prove to be quite crowded and hence it is better to plan well in advance. The May school holidays work only in the first half of the month, before the rains come in.

Month by Month

The islands stay warm all year, at about 28°C on average. Rain, not heat, decides when to go.

Agatti and the Islands Nearby

Agatti

A long narrow coral island with a shallow and serene lagoon on one side. This shallow water allows first-time kayakers and snorkelers to have an easy time here, and the only airport is located here.

Kalpitti

A small uninhabited island at the end of Agatti. You are taken out on a glass bottom boat to see the coral and the sunset.

Islands This Package Does Not Cover

This Lakshadweep package tour from Pune does not include the islands of Kavaratti, Bangaram, Thinnakara, Kadmat, Kalpeni and Minicoy. They all require permits and plans. If you're looking to add one, ask us.

Before You Pack

Cash

Few ATMs in Agatti and cards are not always accepted. Indian rupees are the only currency so make sure to have sufficient cash on hand for the entire journey.

Phone and Internet

Signal strength is weak and data is slow. Check your network before leaving Pune, as only BSNL and Airtel have signals on the islands.

Sun and Water

Very limited shade on the beach. Remember to pack a hat, rash guard and good sunscreen.

What to Bring

  • A neck pillow if you're taking the overnight flight.
  • Water shoes for walking on the lagoon.
  • A dry bag for cell phones on boat days.
  • Any medicines you take. No chemist to call upon.
  • Light, modest clothes for walking through the village.
  • A soft bag suitable for the small plane's load capacity.

Who This Trip Is For

Families

The lagoon is neither rough nor deep, and the days are easy. A family of four finds a Lakshadweep tour package from Pune to be a reasonable family package. Send everyone's ages with your enquiry.

Couples

Quiet beaches, Kalpitti sunsets and a free day in the middle suit couples well. For a room set up for two and a beach dinner, see our Lakshadweep honeymoon package.

Older Travellers

There is nothing on the plan that is difficult and all activities are optional. The morning flight or the Mumbai route is easier than the overnight flight. Consider the small aircraft and the relatively limited medical support available on the island.

Not the Right Trip If

You are looking for nightlife, shopping, or you cannot move your return date as Agatti flights are subject to cancellation due to weather. The Lakshadweep package tour from Pune is perfect for those who prefer a relaxed and calm beach holiday.
