HOW TO REACH SILK ROUTE ?
Reaching the Silk Route in Sikkim is convenient, with New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and Bagdogra Airport (IXB) serving as the main gateways to the region. Travelers arriving by train can reach NJP from major cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, and Mumbai, while Bagdogra Airport offers regular flights from several Indian metros.
From NJP or Bagdogra, you can hire a private vehicle or book a guided tour to begin your journey towards the historic Silk Route. The route generally passes through Sevoke, Kalimpong, Rongli, and then continues to scenic destinations like Aritar, Zuluk, Nathang Valley, Thambi View Point, Kupup Lake, and Old Baba Mandir. Since many parts of the Silk Route lie close to the international border, an Inner Line Permit (ILP) or Protected Area Permit is mandatory for Indian tourists, while foreign nationals have additional travel restrictions and should check the latest regulations before planning their trip.
The mountain roads are steep, winding, and located at high altitudes, so it is advisable to travel in a sturdy SUV with an experienced local driver. Booking a tour package is often the most convenient option, as it includes permits, transportation, accommodation, meals, and sightseeing, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free journey through one of Sikkim's most breathtaking Himalayan destinations.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT SILK ROUTE ?
The best time to visit the Silk Route in Sikkim is during March to May and October to December, when the region offers pleasant weather, crystal-clear skies, and breathtaking views of the Eastern Himalayas. Spring transforms the landscape into a colorful paradise with blooming rhododendrons, vibrant wildflowers, and lush greenery, making it an ideal season for nature lovers and photographers.
The comfortable temperatures during these months also allow travelers to explore popular destinations such as Rongli, Aritar, Zuluk, Thambi View Point, Nathang Valley, Kupup Lake, and the historic Old Baba Mandir without difficulty. Autumn and early winter are equally spectacular, offering crisp mountain air, panoramic views of the snow-covered Kanchenjunga range, and unforgettable sunrises over the Himalayan peaks. This is also the best season for adventure enthusiasts and sightseeing, as the roads are generally in good condition and visibility is excellent.
While the Silk Route remains beautiful throughout the year, the monsoon season from June to September brings heavy rainfall, fog, and occasional landslides, which may disrupt travel plans and limit sightseeing opportunities in our 6 nights 7 days Silk route package. Winter, particularly from late December to February, attracts visitors hoping to experience snowfall, especially in higher-altitude locations like Nathang Valley and Zuluk. However, temperatures can drop below freezing, and some roads may become inaccessible due to snow.
Therefore, travelers should plan accordingly based on their interests and weather preferences. Whether you seek blooming landscapes, snow-covered mountains, scenic road trips, or peaceful Himalayan villages, the Silk Route offers a unique experience in every season. From winding mountain roads and pristine alpine lakes to traditional villages and breathtaking viewpoints, this historic trade route is a paradise for travelers looking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature.
Planning your visit for 6 nigths 7 days in Silk route during the recommended months ensures a comfortable journey, stunning photography opportunities, and an unforgettable exploration of one of Sikkim's most beautiful and less-explored destinations.

The amazing loops of Zuluk wrap around the hill. A treat for our eyes and the joy of a photographer. You need permission to reach this place as the border is under military control. You can see the enchanting color of the Zuluk Loop during sunset over the cloud waves from Lungthung. Beautiful Homestay is found in this very small village of Zuluk. Thanks Mr. Suman Ghosh (Touristhub Holidays) for this wonderfull experience.

A peaceful place surrounded by enchanting natural beauty and frozen beauty! With the Indian Army's transit camp next door, the 600-population Zulu provide a wonderful way to stay within the Snow Dynasty alone: the Ganathang Valley! Makes nice hospitality arranged by Touristhub Holidays in the small homestay here! Zigzag from Thambi View Point when you are in Zuluk.
